Hello again, I believe I have a solution. First I installed temp-throttle.sh from http://seperohacker.blogspot.com/2012/10/linux-keep-your-cpu-cool-with-frequency.html?m=1 . Thermal shutdowns became rarer, but to eliminate them completely, I also bought an aluminum case.
