I can confirm that the failure of the Debian 12 Kirkwood ARMEL installer to
enumerate USB drives on my Ionics-EMS Nimbus 100 is a Linux kernel bug. I
found another, more recent, Linux kernel at
https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096 and booted it. Though it also does
not have UBIFS support built into the kernel (so it fails to mount my
ubi0:rootfs), I can see that when it boots, my USB LEXAR FIREFLY drive is
enumerated:

[ 6.189582][ T8] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using
orion-ehci
[ 6.409884][ T8] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=05dc,

Please update the Debian 12 Kirkwood ARMEL kernel. And, if you would, please
include UBIFS support in the kernel to allow for an eMMC UBIFS rootfs.

Thank you,
