I believe this should be fixed directly in Debian Sid/Testing as well as Stable, instead of uploading to bookworm-backports. Please consider opening a bug against package cockpit instead. Please check https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting about how to report a bug against a Debian package. Meanwhile, I am also forwarding your email to Debian's cockpit package maintainers.
