My point was to ask you why the following comment is not sufficient: # The following variables describe your keyboard and can have the same # values as the XkbModel, XkbLayout, XkbVariant and XkbOptions options # in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. According to it you can simply copy your customized layout from xorg.conf to /etc/default/keyboard so (at least this was my intention) no additional reading of documentation is required.
