Regarding the udev claiming NICs twice problem I reported in #725750.. I booted d-i in non-preseed mode (in "rescue" to be specific) and the problem didn't happen. So it seems to be preseed specific, but I think it has to be specific to the boot cmdline because the network fails to come up so it hasn't yet fetched the preseed file.
