Subject: installation-reports: Needs a /vmlinuz file that points to boot image? Package: installation-reports
Dear Maintainer, After upgrade from stable(Wheezy) to testing(Jessie) (via modifying /etc/apt/sources.list to say Jessie instead of Stable or Wheezy), the machine wouldn't boot. (grub couldn't find file or something like that). I fixed the boot from a system Rescue CD, using chroot, and some commands like update- grub2, grub-install, etc... After booting back into Debian Testing, I noticed that the new kernel wasn't installing. Found a /vmlinuz-old file pointing to old kernel, renamed it to /vmlinuz, and then reinstalled new kernels, etc... This renaming seams to have fixed it so new kernel(s) will install. Don't know why this file was /vmlinuz-old, maybe it's possible that at some point I was doing something with it? p.s. There was also a problem with KDE 'plasma-desktop', needing X11 to be setup so 'Anybody' can use it.
