I think the tests I added are sound from a logical viewpoint. I first test if the install is being run from a network console (same test was already used in network-console's prebaseconfig, so should be save); only then do I test if network-console-config has been successfully installed or not. Note that the check for multiple PID's should go in anyway as that bug now prevents the /media/cdrom bit from being run in _any_ installation over SSH!
