Indeed, preseeding the language used in D-I still requires supporting spaces.
Currently, if one needs to pre-choose the language used by the installer, we need to add this to the kernel command line: languagechooser/language-name=<whatever language name used in languagechooser> And we have some languages which use spaces (Norwegian Bokmaal, Chinese flavours)...
