Hi

i have a sugest .

the trouble :
actually if i download an iso of sarge i get a old 2.4.x kernel or 2.6.x
kernel but not the last and i can't get the last beta kernel to.
for example i have this trouble when i install a sarge on computer with some
raid5 card where i must boot from this raid. so if the kernel of the install is
not the last and don't have the good module .... i can't install sarge ... so i
can't update my kernel ... i have this trouble with some motherboard chipset
and if you don't get the last kernel you can't talk to the pci devices ... very
frustrating for installing ....
I know that maybe you could boot networks debian installer and send the kernel
you want but that's a little bed complex for me and not easy to do and you need
a pxe boot server near.

the solution:
I have think that's if the unstable or testing distrib is updated weekly by
scripts on the debian server , maybe you can do a weekly updated kernel
distribution inside the debin dist . for example inside this "new" sarge we
will get the 2.4 and 2.6 historical reference and the last 2.6 stable and
unstable . weekly updated inside the iso of sarge or sid , etch.

maybe i am wrong . but i think that's for a stupid basic users like me ...
really a nice things ....

theire is a other way but it can't solve all trouble and it's more difficult
for you .. imagine that's the debian cdrom start a generic kernel just for get
a networks access and from this point you can download a new pre-compiled
kernel and execute this new kernel (maybe in a chroot) for be able installing
from this last recent kernel ....

so i expect my idee could help you . and me ... lol

sincerely

romain

ps:
sorry for my english
