Comments/Problems:
Did the most basic install.
On the partition screen selected Erase entire disk then All files on
one partition
On the first reboot after installing GRUB, the machine hung with a GRUB
Error 18 message which indicates that Selected cylinder exceeds maximum
supported by BIOS, presumably because I am using a disk >8Gb with an old
BIOS
I do not have this problem using LILO.
A workaround is to create a /boot partition at the beginning of the disk
(see above partition table)
I believe that the Erase entire disk option in partition management
should either create a default /boot partition or at least warn you that
you may need to create one if you are using a large disk with an old BIOS.
Other than that the installer was easy to use.
