The install program is not a full blow system. It doesn't use the very same utilities as an installed system. > BTW: I did try the netinst CD several times both rescue and install, > without any luck with the network. > Another question: Why to go through the same menu in rescue mode as in > install? Five working boxes makes it easy to explain that the non-working box is the odd one. Where you were ranting^Wlooking for ping and other debug tools not available, we forgot to speak about the tools that are available. What says `ifconfig`, `lsmod` `lspci | grep Ethernet` inside d-i? Cheers Geert Stappers [1] I could say 'sorry', I could say 'you are allowed to keep all the pieces', but I have no time for a flame war. Nor I have time to explain the design of (parts of) d-i. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFErhupOSINbgwa/7sRAvqAAJkB5t0ELyMzUk67qCZPrbAxU+dV0wCgrSzC G17YVQrnBilBc5CQHyRLv3o= =W5/K -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
