Can you give us the 'lspci -n' info for the 00:1f.1 PCI device (I expect that your CD drive is connected to that controller)? Does 'dmesg' show any information about your CD drive being detected or problems reading it? Is there a /dev/hdX of /dev/cdroms/... present? Is the CD mounted? If not, can you mount it?
