I've just burned a fresh copy of the daily netinst CD for alpha, and have no problems like those reported in 403024. No odd spaces in the root= argument on the commandline, and no problems booting. Torben, you also mention having chosen the option to send the console to ttyS0, which is a serial console, in which case you wouldn't have any "second console" at all. Did you mean to use a serial console? If not, please check your boot_osflags variable in SRM, it seems to be set to '1' which chooses the serial console from the installer CD. You could also just boot with "boot dkb0 -fl 0" or "boot dkb0 -fl i". Please let me know if this helps.
