Comments/Problems:
On booting the machine, the DVD boots correctly. The introductory
instructions for the installer are shown, followed by the "boot:"
prompt.
At this point, no keyboard input is possible. Pressing <Enter> has no
effect, nor any other key.
The keyboard is a Happy Hacker USB keyboard.
For comparison, I tried booting an Ubuntu "dapper" live CD in the same
machine. At the equivalent "boot:" prompt, the same keyboard works
fine.
