My guess it is something with grub-installer. > i can just guess though. You could boot debian-installer in rescue mode, to get the logfiles out of the installed system. (your installation went fine, the logfiles are written to disk) Next step would be trimming the logfiles so only relevant parts like udev and grub-installer are left.
