You should see the size of the diff we (Ubuntu) have to carry to choose-mirror for this. Also, note that we use CC.archive.ubuntu.com in contrast to ftp.CC.debian.org. Given that we already have to mess about with choose-mirror to deal with mirror hostname differences, it would be lovely not to have to do the same messing about with apt-setup.
