I just got Debian FreeBSD to boot multiuser. Expect a new tarball very shortly. I have to roll some init script changes back into the packages, and deal with a problem with ELF branding. I may have to recompile every package to fix that one, but it'd be worth it.
FYI, this is a packages only installation. I used a much-hacked version of
debootstrap to make it. The new tarball should be ~15M.
