This isn't quite true these days; most embedded Linux systems use
busybox and uClibc/dietlibc instead of coreutils (etc.) and glibc, so
aren't really GNU systems any more. The "proper" GNU userland is
certainly a lot nicer for usage on big machines, but it's no longer
the only choice.
