American SOS Foundation, Inc. is an American nonprofit and tax-exempt fund
registered under Section 501 (c) (3)
The mission of “American SOS Foundation” is to improve the
economical growth and the growth of rural economy, recreation sports
programs and the medicine. “American SOS Foundation” also gives assistance
to those people who do need help. Mostly the people living in Russian
Federation and the surrounding countries (Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine,
Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tatars tan, Uzbekistan and more). Our programs
directed to children, War veterans, disabled people, refugees and people
who need a medical assistance. At this moment we are planning to realize
some programs regarding sport and recreation development of the youth.
There are some programs concerned with sport development in Russian
Federation, which we would like to realize.
1.”Sport and Recreation program for Disabled Children Development”
We would like to present, Special Olympics Kazakhstan has 14 branches all
over Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is a democratic republic and there are about
120 nationalities living in peace.
Statistically, the 2-3 % of the population of Kazakhstan are people with
mental retardation, it is about 300 – 450 thousand people.
Special Olympics Kazakhstan has 8 500 special athletes with
different kinds of diagnostic. Our target is to raise the number of the
athletes training in Special Olympics Kazakhstan to 15 000 by the year
2005. Next year we are planning to recruit 3 500 new athletes.

2. Program for homeless people
We would like to present Charity Fund of rehabilitation and social
adaptation of homeless people, “The Way Home”
Registration for the homeless people, contacts with different city,
region and governmental services in purpose to help the homeless people,
the assistance regarding medical testing and hospitalization;
Rendering direct assistance to the homeless people (providing hot
meal, the medicine and distributing secondhand cloth);
At the present moment over 6000 adults and about 850 children and
the teenagers are registered in the Homeless Registration Center of The Way
Home;
Realization of the programs directed to the social adaptation of the
homeless people and the people released from prison. Since 1998 about 500
people have had the opportunity to use the services of The Way Home’s
Center for Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation;
Children daily stay at the center created in 2001. About 850
children and the teenagers have been registered in the organization. The
initial medical examination is realized in the Center: Realizing the
hospitalization if it’s necessity, giving first social aid to a child
(contacting with family, notification of the corresponding children
organizations etc.), distributing of clothes, feeding and realizing the
education programs as well.
Harm Reduction from the non-medical drug use. The program covers
7200 drug users. 250 clients visit the two drop-in centers per day.
