Hello, I'm having some troubles installing debian/kfreebsd. During partitioning installer warns me many times that 'Could not flush cache of device /dev/ad0 - No such device' but let me continue to choose the size and numbers of partitions until it finally fails trying to mount them. I tried with no luck to create partitions with the FreeBSD installation CD believing it would solve... nothing, same error.
Some months ago (with the old installer) I installed and used debian/kfreebsd with no problems on the same machine and In the meanwhile I also successfully installed it on VirtualBox with the same installer iso (today's build). I don't know what to do :( Here's some logs partman: ----------- /bin/partman: ******************************************************* /lib/partman/init.d/25md-devices: ******************************************************* /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: ******************************************************* parted_server: ======= Starting the server parted_server: main_loop: iteration 1 parted_server: Opening infifo /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: IN: OPEN =dev=ad0 /dev/ad0 parted_server: Read command: OPEN parted_server: command_open() parted_server: Request to open =dev=ad0 parted_server: Opening outfifo parted_server: OUT: Warning parted_server: OUT: Could not flush cache of device /dev/ad0 - No such device. parted_server: OUT: parted_server: OUT: OK parted_server: OUT: /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: error_handler: exception with type Warning /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: error_handler: reading message /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: paragraph: Could not flush cache of device /dev/ad0 - No such device. /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: error_handler: reading options /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: option: OK /lib/partman/init.d/30parted: IN: unhandled parted_server: User canceled exception handler parted_server: User canceled exception handler parted_server: OUT: OK parted_server: OUT: OK parted_server: Note =dev=ad0 as unchanged parted_server: Closing infifo and outfifo parted_server: main_loop: iteration 2 parted_server: Opening infifo /lib/partman/init.d/35dump: ******************************************************* /lib/partman/init.d/35dump: IN: DUMP =dev=ad0 parted_server: Read command: DUMP parted_server: command_dump() parted_server: Opening outfifo parted_server: OUT: OK parted_server: Closing infifo and outfifo Device: yes Model: QUANTUM FIREBALL EL10.2A/A08.1100 Path: /dev/ad0 Sector size: 512 Sectors: 20044080 Sectors/track: 63 Heads: 255 Cylinders: 1247 Partition table: yes Type: msdos Partitions: # id length type fs path name (0,0,0) (0,0,62) -1 0-32255 32256 primary label /dev/ad0s-1 (0,1,0) (0,32,31) -1 32256-1048575 1016320 primary free /dev/ad0s-1 (0,32,32) (1228,171,30) 1 1048576-10106175487 10105126912 primary freebsd-ufs /dev/ad0s1 (1228,171,31) (1228,203,60) -1 10106175488-10107223039 1047552 pri/log free /dev/ad0s-1 (1228,203,61) (1247,170,10) 2 10107223040-10262413311 155190272 primary extended /dev/ad0s2 (1228,203,61) (1228,203,62) -1 10107223040-10107224063 1024 logical label /dev/ad0s-1 (1228,204,0) (1247,170,10) 5 10107224064-10262413311 155189248 logical linux-swap /dev/ad0s5 (1247,170,11) (1247,174,62) -1 10262413312-10262568959 155648 pri/log free /dev/ad0s-1 Dump finished. parted_server: main_loop: iteration 3 parted_server: Opening infifo /lib/partman/init.d/49md: ******************************************************* /lib/partman/init.d/50biosgrub: ******************************************************* /lib/partman/init.d/50biosgrub: IN: PARTITIONS =dev=ad0 parted_server: Read command: PARTITIONS parted_server: command_partitions() parted_server: Opening outfifo parted_server: OUT: OK parted_server: OUT: 1 1048576-10106175487 10105126912 primary freebsd-ufs /dev/ad0s1 parted_server: OUT: 5 10107224064-10262413311 155189248 logical linux-swap /dev/ad0s5 parted_server: Partitions printed parted_server: OUT: syslog: -------- Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: atapci0: <Intel ICH UDMA66 controller> port 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6,0x170-0x177,0x376,0xb800-0xb80f at device 31.1 on pci0 Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: ata0: <ATA channel 0> on atapci0 Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: ata0: [ITHREAD] Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: ata1: <ATA channel 1> on atapci0 Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: ata1: [ITHREAD] Dec 1 22:08:52 kernel: GEOM: ad0: partition 2 does not start on a track boundary.
