I am myself a recent member of GNU Inetutils. It is equally recent that my work has lead to a possibility to compile that source for all of OpenBSD, FreeBSD, and GNU/kFreeBSD. In fact, exactly one issue remains, namely a quirk for GNU/kFreeBSD caused by GNUlib. Guillem Jover uses a manual alteration to overcome this in the Debian packaging. On the other hand, the code for "ifconfig" in all BSD versions, lacks possibility to set addresses, it can only report. Sadly to say, it only detects IPv4. I joined GNU Inetutils with the expressed intention of addressing IPv6 issues, but I have come to spend equally much time on BSD-porting. Therefore, I see no immediate prospect of gleaning at GNU Inetutils for improving on the present "ifupdown issue" for GNU/kFreeBSD. Possibly for the release beyond Squeeze. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
