Package: kernel-package
Hi,
I have installed Sarge, and use LILO as a bootloader. When I install a
custom kernel package (created with make-kpkg), the old "/vmlinuz"
link is renamed to "/vmlinuz.old". The same for "/initrd.img". And
/etc/lilo.conf is modified in consequence. Right.
THE PROBLEM is that /etc/lilo.conf has a reference to
"/initrd.img.old", althrough the link "/initrd.img" has been renamed
to "/initrd.old" during the kernel package installation. As you see,
there is a name mismatch, and the execution of "lilo" will fail, and
the boot record will not be updated.
I feel that this issue is related to make-kpkg and the post install
scripts, but unfortunatly I did not have time to check those scripts.
Best Regards,
David.

.
* Bug fix: "kernel-package: Improvements for kernel_grub_rm.sh script",
thanks to Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña. I created my own patch,
rather than using the one in the report, but thanks for pointing this
out. (Closes: #287937).
* Bug fix: "mismatch between lilo.conf and the actual filename
"initrd.old".", thanks to David Robin. The fix is actually
thanks to Khalid Aziz, who noticed that in one corner case the
symbolic link was moved to the wrong location. (Closes: #288540).
* Bug fix: "bash_completion.d/make-kpkg prints grep error messages if
.config doesn't exist", thanks to Josh Triplett (Closes: #285166).
