I initially installed my system with the following settings:
; notifiers=Sender, Recipients, Admin
cleanup = yes
At one point I made some changes and wanted to verify that mail was
being scanned. I turned on notification, resulting in the following
settings:
notifiers=Admin
cleanup = yes
>From that point on, a large number of messages each day were not cleaned
up (in my case the unpacked attachments remained in /tmp). I performed
several manual tests, and demonstrated that the temporary directories
were often being cleaned up. However there were still a large number of
directories that were never cleaned up.
I was able to resolve the issue (though in an unsatisfactory manner) by
turning off notification again:
; notifiers=Admin
cleanup = yes
Once notification was turned off, all temprary output was always cleaned
up.
