Version: 1.4.1-1
Severity: minor
Gnumeric automatically adjust the precision of numbers shown in the
spreadsheet. For example, if the entry is 1.23456789 and the column is
not wide enough, it will be show as something like 1.2346. And if a
user want to know the exact number, click on the cell and it will be
shown in the edit area.
This is reasonable behaviour, and the digits shown is changed when you
change the column width. However I noticed this is not the case if you
change the column width of the whole spreadsheet together.
To reproduce:
1. Open a new spreadsheet.
2. Input 1.23456789 in A1 cell, press enter. The entry is shown as
1.23457.
3. Choose the whole spread sheet, use menu Format -> Column -> Width...,
change the width from 48 to 80, click on OK button.
4. The column width is changed, but the entry is still shown as 1.23457
even the cell is already wide enough to hold the whole entry. Only
after clicking on the cell, the representation changes to the full
form.
Note this doesn't happen if I only change the width of column A instead
of the whold spreadsheet.
