Package: php4-gd
Version: 4.2.3-11 (not installed)
Severity: wishlist
Currently php4 build-depends on libgd-xpm-perl. This makes php4-gd depend=
on
more than 5 MB of X libraries.
Would it be possible, like the php4-gd2 package, to provide a choice?

This bug will never be "fixed", because there's really no point. To be
honest, I would prefer (and I'm not alone in this) if you would just drop
the -noxpm packages entirely. Now that the xlibs have a much
finer-grained breakout of packages, there's pretty much no advantage in
having the two versions, and it just serves to confuse both users and
developers alike.
