Subject: lprngtool: Does not configure Remote lpr Printers well
X-Reportbug-Version: 1.28
X-Mailer: reportbug 1.28

Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: lprngtool
Version: 1.1.1-4
Severity: normal

The following is created by lprngtool:
[...]
##LPRNGTOOL## REMOTE ljet4 300x300 a4 {} LaserJet4 Default {}
lp|brother|laser
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp
:sh
:mx=0
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lp/acct
:ml=0
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp/log
:cd=/var/spool/lpd/lp/
:if=/usr/share/lprngtool/master-filter
:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
:
[...]

lpq for example gives this error:
Printer: lp is [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Printer: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - ERROR: spool queue for 'passthru' does not exist
on server sonne.univ
non-existent printer or you need to run 'checkpc -f'
You have new mail in /var/spool/mail/thorsten

and printig to my Remoteprinter is oviosly not working...

But an hand modified printcap resolves the problem:
##LPRNGTOOL## REMOTE ljet4 300x300 a4 {} LaserJet4 Default {}
lp|brother|laser
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp
:sh
:mx=0
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lp/acct
:ml=0
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/lp/log
:cd=/var/spool/lpd/lp/
:rp=PASSTHRU
:rm=printer
:if=/usr/share/lprngtool/master-filter
:

Notice that I modified the lp field.
In lprngtool I selected Remoteprinter and the correct queue.

The lprngtool package has been removed from Debian because it is
"orphaned, buggy, nearly dead upstream". See #244768 for more
information.
