Hi,

When I want to upgrade my virus database on my desktop :
# freshclam -v --debug
freshclam: relocation error: freshclam: undefined symbol: cli_strtok

I paste an extract of "strace freshclam" :
##

brk(0) = 0x8052000
brk(0x8073000) = 0x8073000
brk(0) = 0x8073000
open("/etc/clamav/freshclam.conf", O_RDONLY) = 3

) = 69
exit_group(127) = ?

I have "remove --purge" and "reinstall" but same symptom.
I have "freshclam" with my laptop (powered by Debian unstable too) and
there is no undefined symbol on cli_strtok() function...
Precise me if you want more elements...

Thanks,

Good. That's what I thought.

Debian has never installed to /usr/local/lib - that comes from
installing from source. I am of the opinion that the package cannot
possibly be smart enough to search everywhere for locally compiled
versions and do it a smart and bug-free way. If you have installed a
program from source, and then install the packaged version, I am of the
opinion that it is up to you to deal with the non-packaged version.

I am closing this bug with this email.

Take care, and thanks,
