KPhone doesn't work well with ALSA on 2.6.0-2.6.4 kernels (didn't try
other versions) - I get lots of noise in the sound I transmit.
Problem is that ALSA or the OSS emulation layer doesn't like that kphone
tries to read odd numbers of bytes from the sound device.
To work around that, I added "bytes=bytes&0xff0;" to
DspAudioIn::timerTick(void) in dspaudioin.cpp. This solved my problems
with garbled sound.
As I have the source code on a different computer I don't have a patch
at hand, but I surely can provide one if the description above doesn't
suffice.
In case it matters, this happens with the snd_intel8x0 driver.
