Package: php4-mysql
Version: 4:4.3.10-2
Severity: important

package appears to have been built using version 3 mysql include and lib files
(presumably because of the libmysqlclient10 dependency),
which results in a mysql client API version of 3.23.56.

this was determined with the phpinfo() function built into a small test web
page.

unfortunately, this makes connecting to a mysql server running greater than 4.0
impossible, unless users passwords are reset using the
OLD_PASSWORD() mysql function. typically, the following message is returned:

'mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by
server; consider upgrading MySQL client'

one solution might be to make php4-mysql dependent on libmysqlclient14, rather
than libmysqlclient10?

regards-
-ben

 .
   * Update 040-curl_open_basedir.patch once more to make sure it doesn't
segfault when fed a null or uninitialised URL (closes: #295447)
   * Add 047-zts_with_dl.patch, courtest of Steve Langasek to re-enable the
dl() function in our builds, despite upstream's claim that it "might
not be threadsafe on all platforms"; it is on ours (closes: #297839)
   * Make the php4-dev binaries versioned with alternatives (closes: #295903)
   * Update build-deps to libmysqlclient12-dev (closes: #290989, #227549)
