Severity: important
After playing with the startup shell script, I've found that, at least
on my system, the presence of "/usr/lib/mozilla" in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH
is stopping Moz from starting.
This works:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:/usr/lib"
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME="/usr/lib/mozilla" XPSERVERLIST=":64 "
/usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla-bin
This doesn't:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib/mozilla:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:/usr/lib"
MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME="/usr/lib/mozilla" XPSERVERLIST=":64 "
/usr/lib/mozilla/mozilla-bin
Mozilla fails silently in the latter case.
After removing lbxpcom_compat.so from the moz lib directory, Moz starts
fine. No other library fixes it when it's removed. Allegedly this is
something to do with plugins, so I renamed the plugins directory (to no
avail).
For now, I've renamed the libxpcom_compat file into root's home
directory; I have no idea what's broken.
