I have the following settings inside my squid.conf, for at leats one year now:
dns_retransmit_interval 3 seconds
dns_timeout 1 minute
During some recent upgrade, "dns_retransmit_interval" started to define
the absolute dns timeout, i.e. dns requests time out after 3 seconds,
instead of after 1 minute, resulting in "Unable to determine IP address
from host name for xxx", reload works (as the address has
been resolved in the meantime).
dns_timeout has no effect, while increasing dns_retransmit_interval
increases the absolute dns timeout.
