I have a sarge system with some etch packages. When trying to
install apt-index-watcher 0.3.10, the following error occurs:
Setting up apt-index-watcher (0.3.10) ...
..: 11: Can't open /lib/lsb/init-functions
invoke-rc.d: initscript apt-index-watcher, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing apt-index-watcher (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
So I installed lsb-base from sarge (2.0-7):
Setting up apt-index-watcher (0.3.10) ...
/etc/init.d/apt-index-watcher: 40: log_daemon_msg: not found
invoke-rc.d: initscript apt-index-watcher, action "start" failed.
dpkg: error processing apt-index-watcher (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
lsb-base from etch (3.1-15) solved the problem.

Hello,
apt-index-watcher has finally disappeared, and the new libapt-front
isn't building it anymore.
We implemented a better index update mechanism in libept, and
updated libapt-front to make use of it.
apt-index-watcher has been replaced by a better system which does not
have all of its problems, and we got rid of its bugs.
