Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.10-2
Severity: important
I have many albums in directories, with some non-music files (eg,
lyrics, album art) in them. Usually I drag a whole directory onto xmms
from nautilus to play a whole album. But recently xmms has started to
crash with some albums. I found that it can be reliably creashed by
dropping certain text files onto it. If it matters, the text files are
dos-format text files.

This problem is not present in the current Sid version (maybe also it's
not present in older versions). I made the following test:
a) Downloaded ASSP (which has DOS-format textfiles on it) and unzipped
it in a directory.
b) Checked if DOS-format textfiles were present:
$ file *.txt | grep CRLF
Install.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
nodelay.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
notspamreport.txt: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators
redremovereport.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
redreport.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
redre.txt: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators
spamreport.txt: ASCII text, with CRLF line terminators
whiteremovereport.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
whitereport.txt: ASCII English text, with CRLF line terminators
c) Added a couple of .mp3 files to the directory
d) Added the whole directory to the XMMS playlist
XMMS didn't crash and I was able to reproduce my MP3 files without any
problems.
Thank you very much for your time and attention to details,
Jose
