Package: netenv
Version: 0.94.2-2 (not installed)
Severity: normal
Hi,
I've juste upgraded netenv on my machine running sid, and I'm fighting
to get the network working again...
First thing, the file /etc/netenv points to /var/tmp/netenv* but there
is no such thing on my disk. I do have something matching
/var/tmp/neten* though. The reason for this is in the tempfile(1)
manpage, which says that the -p option accepts a prefix up to 5 letters,
which means that "netenv" is truncated to "neten".
The documentation never mentions /var/tmp (/tmp is used in
netenv-en.html) and there is nothing about this in README.Debian.
I question the use of tempfile(1), though. Since /var/tmp is never
cleaned up, it means that I end up with /var/tmp/ being full of netenv
files, and I have to use complicated means (`ls -t | head -1`) to know
the one I should source in networks.opts (could not find anything about
this in the doc). Using /var/tmp/netenv would solve this, I think.
