Package: mplayer
Version: 1.0~rc1-10
Severity: normal

I have noticed a strange instability in the dependencies of the mplayer
package which has not been noted in the changelog. Some versions of the
mplayer package depend on libartsc0 and libjack0.100.0-0, while others
do not at all.

Within the versions uploaded in December, 1.0~rc1-6, 1.0~rc1-9, and
1.0~rc1-11 have all depended on libartsc0 and libjack0.100.0-0. On the
other hand, 1.0~rc1-7, 1.0~rc1-8, and 1.0~rc1-10 have not depended on
these two packages.

Since I use aptitude's tracking of automatically installed packages, and
since I like to keep my system generally clear of unused packages, this
fluctuation in mplayer's dependencies has been somewhat problematic. A
version of mplayer would arrive in the archive which would force me to
install libartsc0 and libjack0.100.0-0 and their dependencies; the next
version would then indicate that these packages are no longer needed and
can be uninstalled.

As there has been no mention in the changelog of these dependencies, I'm
wondering whether this fluctuation is intentional or not. If not, please
fix the build system such that one way or the other is chosen
consistently.
