Package: bongo
Version: 20070102-1
Severity: normal
Hello,
I cannot play files in Bongo using the VLC backend anymore. When I try
to do so, the following error occurs: "apply: Wrong type argument:
stringp, nil". I am using Bongo under emacs-snapshot.
The VLC backend used to work for me, until I upgraded emacs-snapshot,
vlc-nox and bongo a few days ago. Since then, I've not been able to
use VLC inside Bongo. Unfortunately, I have upgraded all three
packages at once, so I do not know which one triggered the error.
VLC fails with the error message above for .mp3, .ogg or .mpc files,
for any filename I've tried. There is also no difference between
inserting a single file or a whole directory of several hundred files
at once.
The other backend I use is mpg321. This backend works fine for mp3
files. I have not used the other backends in Bongo. Both vlc and
mpg321 are in my $PATH, and they both work fine when run outside
Bongo.
The problem occurs with VLC whether I start Emacs with the -q option
or not. While I tried to investigate the backtrace from the Emacs
debugger, I have not been able to come up with a proper fix.
I use both the vlc and the vlc-nox packages; both are at version
0.8.6.a.debian-1. Removing the vlc package did not solve the problem.
Thanks,
Anthony
