Package: mesag3-glide2
Version: N/A; reported 2001-12-31
Severity: normal

Mesa/Glide for Voodoo2 is kinda broken, have a couple screenshots:

http://debian.dyndns.org/quake16.jpg (Debian's 3.1 package)
http://debian.dyndns.org/quake18.jpg (Debian's 3.4.2.1)

I would like to note that the 3.1 package has an applied workaround which
breaks the workaround designed to prevent the RGB/BGR mess - Mesa/Glide
used to always return BGR data, but that package seems to have been
"fixed" to return always RGB data. We stopped asking for RGB and started
asking for BGR specifically because of that bug. The texture corruption
is interesting as well.

3.4.2.1 ... I don't even know how one could upload the textures you're
seeing in that screenshot. It's pretty, but also pretty wrong. =)

Mesa 4 is reported not to have these problems.

<Chalky> gcc is the best compressor ever ported to linux. it can turn
12MB of kernel source (and that's .debbed) into a 500k kernel

Closing since the submitted claimed it was fixed in mesa 4. We already
had mesa 5 in sarge.
