Package: module-init-tools
Version: 3.3-pre4-2
Severity: important

I'm trying to setup channel bonding for my NIC cards.
I specified following in my /etc/modutils/alias file:

alias bond0 bonding
options bond0 mode=2 miimon=100

And then ran update-modules.

Point to note is that on boot, the bonding module is not loaded automatically.
I have to either manually load it or specify it in the /etc/modules file.

Even though if it is specified in the /etc/modules file, it doesn't read the
bonding mode from /etc/modules.conf

It instead goes ahead and uses the default mode i.e. balance-rr (0).

The only way to enable other modes seems to be by modprobing it manually with
the mode option.

modprobe bonding mode=2

Thanks,
Ritesh

RTFM. module-init-tools does not use /etc/modutils/.
