Hi

I am trying to open my folders but I am not getting success on that.
When I click on "Folders" (on the top bar), the page keeps loading and
then it stops, without showing nothing different.
Taking a look at Apache error log, I saw some lines with this:

Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 140
bytes)

Thank you
Nelson

Hello Nelson,

I have found the problem. It is actually not a SquirrelMail bug but a
bug / feature in UW-IMAP. The problem is reproducible when you don't set
a Folder Prefix in conf.pl. UW-IMAP then returns the whole of your
homedirectory as your list of mailboxes. If you have quite some files in
your home then SquirrelMail might time out on that entire list.

This is considered a "feature" upstream. There's already a Debian bug
against UW IMAP, #202581.

There are a couple of fixes for this:

1) Configure SquirrelMail the right way. If you run
squirrelmail-configure and then choose D (Set pre-defined settings for
specific IMAP servers) and choose 'uw', everything is handled fine. I
will see if I can add a note to the Debian docs stressing the need to
configure the workarounds for your specific server.

2) Use something else than UW IMAP. This is generally a good idea, since
UW is considered to be slow and buggy. Other servers are much better,
like Cyrus, Courier (Maildir only) or Dovecot.

Thanks for reporting this bug that unfortunately cannot be solved by
SquirrelMail. Regards,

Thijs Kinkhorst
