Hello,
I think only the first version of Mark's patch as of September 30th 2004 in
#274178 has been applied, so logging to syslog might not work when chrooted
and the manpage doesn't represent the changes as Mark updated his patches on
October 2nd 2004 in http://bugs.debian.org/274178
Best regards, Ren

portmap (5-10) unstable; urgency=high
.
* Re-added the debconf configuration, although the default for this is now
to have portamp listening in all interfaces. The debconf setting
allows system administrators, base-config and cdd developers to preseed
this value to 'true' (link only to the loopback interface) if needed.
Patch by Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
Closes: #301130, #286301.
