Package: mozilla-browser
Version: 2:1.6-1
Severity: important
File: /usr/bin/mozilla-1.6
This is a problem that usually turns up when upgrading Mozilla from an old
version.
The user tries to print a page from Mozilla, and instead of getting the
desired page, he gets a long verbose message (in paper) that starts
something like:
The Postscript interpreter in your printer is 2014.108
This printout requires at least version 2015 or greater.
And then goes on to mention that you can workaround this by typing a 100
character long line.
Now, I didn't like this workaround, so I spent almost a whole day trying
to find what could I do to stop this awful message from coming out of my
printer.
I finally found out that I had to comment out this line:
pref("font.FreeType2.enable", true);
from /etc/mozilla/prefs.js
I think that this is the debconf question that's mentioned at the bottom
of this mail (mozilla/freetype: true). But I couldn't get
dpkg-reconfigure to show up that question again... I think it might have
been dropped from latest mozillas.
If that's the case, I think this line should be commented out by
default, or something. Because, when woody users upgrade to sarge,
they'll all have this problem if this is not fixed.
I think it's URGENT to deal with this before sarge is released!!
Love,
Margarita.

According to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/36197 and
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=234182
this is fixed in mozilla 1.8.0, which iceape (replacing mozilla) is
based on.
