Package: gconf
Severity: important
Version: 1.0.9-5

When I try to use pbuilder to build gconf, I get:

...
 -> Considering  guile
   -> Trying guile
       -> Cannot install guile; apt errors follow:
Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
Package guile is a virtual package provided by:
  guile1.4 1:1.4-24
  guile-1.6 1.6.4-4
You should explicitly select one to install.
E: Package guile has no installation candidate
     -> Considering guile-1.6 to satisfy the dependency
 -> Considering  libguile-dev (>= 1:1.4-10)
   -> Trying libguile-dev
       -> Cannot install libguile-dev; apt errors follow:
Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  guile-1.6: Conflicts: libguile-dev (<= 1:1.4-24)
E: Broken packages
     -> Considering guile-1.6-dev to satisfy the dependency
...
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: libguile-dev (>= 1:1.4-10)
dpkg-buildpackage: Build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting.
dpkg-buildpackage: (Use -d flag to override.)
pbuilder: Failed autobuilding of package

I believe pbuilder's choosing to install guile-1.6-dev is a bug; but
even if not, it would bail out at that point, not being able to
continue because it had guessed wrongly which version of guile was
wanted.

Package: gconf
Version: 1.0.9-5.1

The gconf build dependency on guile was removed long ago; according to the
changelog, it was in version 1.0.9-5.1 that it was dropped. Closing this
bug.
