Package: gedit
Version: 2.6.1-1
Severity: important

I'm trying to access a file system through ftp. I added a location which
appears in computer:/// in nautilus and also in the open dialog of for
instance gedit. The problem is that I can open a file from ftp, but then
I can't do anything with it. Can't edit or change anything, can't save.
I do have write permissions there (I can for example remove files via
nautilus). Gedit shows AL in the tab next to the filename...

        Hi,

 Since gedit 2.13.1, writing remote files is supported (via GnomeVFS);
 for the particular case of ftp:// URIs, this is disabled by default as
 -- in the experience of the Gedit developers -- this is considered too
 dangerous. You can enable ftp writing by adding ftp to this GConf key:
    /apps/gedit-2/preferences/editor/save/writable_vfs_schemes

 The gedit developpers requested feedback on ftp write support at:
    <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110191>

   Bye,
