Package: module-init-tools
Version: 0.9.12-1
modprobe.modutils (the legacy modprobe) doesn't handle 'alias' commands (in
modules.conf) which contain an asterisk in the middle of the alias, e.g.:
alias /dev/scsi/*/cd sr_mod
alias /dev/scsi/*/generic sg
In fact, it seems to treat it as /dev/scsi/*, thus /dev/scsi/*/cd and
/dev/scsi/*/generic are considered the same, trying to load sr_mod for both
cd and generic.

This package has been removed from Debian unstable. I'm therefore
closing this bug report. The package has been removed because it
has been replaced by module-init-tools. modutils was for 2.4 kernels
only. It's quite unlikely that your bug still exists in
module-init-tools, but please let me know if it does.
