Package: modutils
Version: 2.4.26-1.2
Severity: wishlist

I had a OSS sound module that I was trying to load disabled by alsa, and
until I though to check /etc/modprobe.d/, modprobe's failure to load it
seemed very mysterious. I was running it in verbose mode and with
debugging on, and it would just stop with no message at all after
reading modules.dep (I was stracing it too). I think there should be
some message printed in at least debug mode if a module load is skipped
because it's been aliased to off the way alsa does.

This package has been removed from Debian unstable. I'm therefore
closing this bug report. The package has been removed because it
has been replaced by module-init-tools. modutils was for 2.4 kernels
only. It's quite unlikely that your bug still exists in
module-init-tools, but please let me know if it does.
