Package: modutils
Version: 2.4.15-1
Severity: normal
autofs (3.9.99-4.0.0pre10-3) adds this line to modules.conf:
probe autofs autofs4 autofs
with this line in the config and the autofs.o module loaded (autofs
user-space stopped, module refcount = 0), "modprobe -r autofs"
segfaults.
an strace ends with *lots* of brk(0xnnnnn) where 0xnnnnn goes up by
0x1000 each time. eventually it segfaults and dies.
commenting out the "probe" line and rerunning "modprobe -r autofs"
works fine.

This package has been removed from Debian unstable. I'm therefore
closing this bug report. The package has been removed because it
has been replaced by module-init-tools. modutils was for 2.4 kernels
only. It's quite unlikely that your bug still exists in
module-init-tools, but please let me know if it does.
