Package: pdnsd
Version: 1.1.7-5
Severity: important

In version 1.1.7-4 of the Debian pdnsd package a script has been added to
/etc/ip-up.d called 0pnsd-up that will set all of the specified servers online.

This has two very important problems:

1) It may not be valid to use the same name servers for all PPP connections.
For example if multiple ISPs are used then the name server for each one
should be selected, not all of them.

2) There is no script to take the servers offline when the ppp link goes down.
This means that pdnsd thinks that the servers are still available and all
name lookups take many seconds to resolve when offline.

 .
   * Remove ppp.ip-up, as resolvconf does things better, and document it in
     debian/NEWS (Closes: 147402, 249549, 248696, 322486).
 .
   * Update init.d a bit to handle remaining process more gracefully. Only
watch pdnsd process running under user pdnsd to avoid killing things that
     aren't our own.
