Package: screen
Version: 4.0.2-4.1
Severity: important

The default terminal type "screen.linux" is incompatible with some programs, for
example, the arrow keys will not function at all in the wpe family of editors.
I tried switching the default terminal type to "linux", which I thought would be
seen as a somewhat true Linux console, but it breaks things like dialog, which
no
longer shows colours properly. Still other programs such as fbi complain about
the terminal not being a Linux console, but that may simply be due to the fact
that Screen is using the pts/ system and not real virtual consoles, so I didn't
consider this to be a problem, only a limitation.

Hi,

I was unable to find an appropriate entry in the ncurses changelog, but
the problem as you describe it doesn't exist anymore: with recent (i.e.
5.6) ncurses installed, shells inside screen have TERM=screen again.

Therefore I'm closing the report(s) - if you somehow manage to reproduce
the behaviour, don't hesitate to reopen it.

Regards,

Jan
