Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.18-5

The version of /etc/sane.d/dll.conf supplied with this package
has the mustek_pp backend commented out.

The result is that on upgrading my sarge box to etch, my Mustek
parallel port scanner was no longer usable.

Uncommenting the line cured the problem. It is a quick and easy
problem to solve, but it should not need to be solved in the
first place.

The same problem may apply to other makes of scanner as there
are a few other random backends also commented out.

Parallel port scanners are disabled by default because the
corresponding backends have caused frontends to hang for no apparent
reason, which is somehwat difficult to trace back because it's highly
dependent on the machine, its parallel port and its BIOS bugs.

So, this is not a bug and it's totally intended.

You always have the option to not upgrade the configuration file, you
chose to upgrade it without checking the diff first, so you asked for
it.
