Package: gparted
Version: 0.3.3-2
Severity: important

This bug was already discussed weeks ago on debian-gtk-gnome. See the archive
around june/july 2007. As it is still not reported, I do it.

Brief summary: as one uses gparted it creates a file
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/gparted-disable-automount.fdi
to stop hal responding to hal events. In my case I played around with a drive
connected to the pata controller (_not_ usb!) so this is more than just
annoying: Wrong rule created, forgets to remove it. gnome bts seems to be down
right now, but I've seen this bug reported on fedora and ubuntu (why did this
bugreport not "flow" to debian?!).

   * Add debian/patches/03_fdi_robustification.patch:
     - Install a signal handler for cleaning up the automount disabling FDI, so
       that it will be cleaned up on program crashes, too.
     - Use storage.automount_enabled_hint instead of volume.ignore for the
       automount disabling FDI. That way, the new drives will at least appear
       in Gnome and the user can mount them manually.
